Rev. Dr. Steven Rutt comes to ACU as an Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies and Christian Ministries after 38 years of international ministry in 14 countries, whereupon he served as a missionary teacher, church planter, principal, seminary professor and basketball coach. Before he came to ACU in 2013, he completed his doctoral work in Christian Mission after four years of archival research at Rhodes House, Oxford, and subsequently, earned his PhD in Religious Studies from Lancaster University, England. He has published two journal articles on the missiology of Roland Allen for Transformation: An International Journal of Holistic Mission Studies (SAGE, London, 2012), and also, India Church Growth Quarterly (Church Growth Educational Trust, Madras, India, April-June 2014). The Lutterworth Press (Cambridge, England) is currently reviewing his doctoral dissertation for potential publication. He remains a guest lecturer in Missiology for the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (Oxford), the Reformed Episcopal Seminary (Philadelphia) and Cranmer Theological House (Houston/Dallas).
Dr. Rutt’s extensive ministry experience—combined with a passion for mentoring students on how to integrate faith and knowledge—facilitates a missional emphasis that stems from a comprehensive biblical worldview.
Steven married his best friend, Sue, some 38 years ago and they are blessed with four wonderful children. Their children married Christian spouses and have given Steven and Sue 10 “brilliant” grandchildren.
