On the heels of Global Opportunities Week, the ACU Library has a display of books on missions and missionaries. These inspiring books remind you to pray for and be involved in the spread of the kingdom of God across the world through the preaching of the Gospel. As the Lord Jesus said in the Great Commission, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18b-20 ESV). Check out these books and see how Christians like you have obeyed this command. We have more!

Perhaps you may feel that missions aren’t for you. But did you know that you can fulfill the Great Commission even in your own backyard? Explore international student ministries. Students from all over the world come to universities in the United States, and many of them want friendship as well as an education. You can show them the love of Christ. Pursue true friendship with them. They may want to practice English; and reading the Bible with them is one great way to help them do that. Realize that the focus of the Great Commission is actually on making disciples, not on going somewhere away from home. As you go about your life, make disciples.
