Arizona Christian University is excited to announce that Christian Music Broadcasters has nominated our own Arizona Shine radio station for the prestigious 2014 Rob Gregory Community Service Award. This award, developed to honor Rob’s legacy, is presented annually to a station that shares his three-fold passion for his family, sharing Christ with others and excellence in broadcasting.
“With a mission to strengthen and nurture healthy marriages, families and communities, Arizona Shine has the honor and privilege of carrying our Lord’s message of love and encouragement throughout our communities and beyond our borders,” said Sally Barton, Station Manager and Vice President of Media for Arizona Christian University. “The Rob Gregory Community Service Award speaks of the miraculous ways Christ Jesus has provided through Arizona Shine staff and volunteers, on air and in tangible outreach. We are humbled and most grateful.”
One of five stations nominated for the national award, Arizona Shine encourages listeners to join the ministry in reaching out with acts of service and kindness. Highlights during the last year for Arizona Shine include: a mission trip for staff and volunteers to rebuild a church in Shonto on the Navajo Nation northeast of Flagstaff; directing a memorial for 19 fallen firefighters with the IAFF and Vice President Joe Biden; collecting thousands of diapers and baby clothes for local Community Pregnancy Centers; participating in packing 3000 boxes for Operation Christmas Child; organizing the Greater Prescott Area Prayer Breakfast, and traveling to Haiti with Compassion International.
