The President’s Blog
Yesterday with the birth of our second grandchild we experienced again the miracle of new life, and were reminded that a husband and wife become united spiritually at marriage, and become physically “one flesh” when blessed with a child.
Oh, if only we had lived in the days of Moses, and if we had seen miracle after miracle with our own eyes! Deliverance from Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, pillars of cloud by day and fire by night to guide us – then it would be so easy to trust God and follow His instructions!
Father, on this National Day of Prayer, we thank you that we live in a nation that still – by official national and state proclamations – sets aside a day to honor you and to recognize our need for you.
Here we see that Jesus, although fully God, was fully man. He can identify with everything we go through, up to and including desperate and passionate prayer that is not answered in the way we would desire.
This is the simple message of the cross. Today we remember God’s love for the world. He loved us all so much that He sent His only son Jesus to live among us perfectly, and ultimately to die a horrifying, excruciatingly painful death on the cross in our place.
