ACU Achieves Record Enrollment – Again

ACU Achieves Record Enrollment – Again

Arizona Christian University once again achieved record enrollment this fall in all programs, including more than 600 traditional students on campus for the first time in the school’s history. When including enrollment in its degree completion, concurrent and online programs, ACU is now well over 800 total students and will be serving more than 900 students by year-end. “Just a decade ago Southwestern College was a small Bible college with fewer than 250 students. Today, in an environment where most small colleges are losing students, Arizona Christian University is rapidly approaching 1,000 total students and continues to exceed expectations,” said ACU President Len Munsil. “At some institutions with tens of thousands of students, it’s easy to feel like you’re just a number. Even as we grow at ACU, you will never get lost in the crowd as we provide individualized attention and service.” Arizona Christian University was noted in 2016 as Arizona’s most selective college by Business Insider, listed alongside numerous Ivy League schools across the nation. Remaining faithful to its Bible college heritage, ACU is the only accredited Christian university in Arizona that provides a liberal arts education to all traditional students with a minor in Biblical Studies, two chapels each week and spiritual formation accountability, all while embracing a Christian faith commitment for all staff, faculty, students and Trustees. “As the top-ranked Christian university in Arizona, students who are serious about their faith and want to be part of an elite educational experience in an intimate community of Christ-followers are finding ACU to be exactly what they were looking for,” Munsil said. ACU’s national and international visibility...
Congrats, Sarenna Selzer!

Congrats, Sarenna Selzer!

Arizona Christian University formally announced its third recipient of the full-tuition President’s Scholarship for the incoming class of 2016, Valley student Sarenna Selzer of Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, Arizona.  With the announcement, ACU’s Vice President of Enrollment, Pete Hamstra, expressed his confidence that Sarenna will be a positive influence not only in ACU’s Business Department, but to the campus overall. “Sarenna comes to ACU with a background that indicates she’ll be a significant presence in ACU’s Business Department. Having served as both the fundraising director and the president of the local DECA chapter, Sarenna’s leadership skills exemplify what ACU looks for in a President’s Scholar,” said Hamstra. He added, “Not only that, her record of volunteerism is consistent with the commitment to service that ACU is known for in the surrounding community.” In addition to her duties with DECA, an association with the mission to “prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe,” Sarenna served as the section leader, drum major and club historian for the Desert Ridge marching band. Outside of school, Sarenna is heavily involved in her church where she is an assistant preschool teacher, large group leader for children, and youth band vocalist. She has also participated in food drives for Goodwill and is a shift manager at Chick-Fil-A. Sarenna quickly realized that her commitment to faith and service would be nurtured at ACU, and that’s exactly what she looks forward to most. Sarenna shared, “Not only will I receive a biblically-integrated education, but I will also have the chance to study the...
2016 ACU President’s Scholar

2016 ACU President’s Scholar

Arizona Christian University is excited to announce its first President’s Scholar for the 2016 incoming freshmen class! Jayci Kelley, a senior at Foothill High School in Redding, California, was awarded one of ACU’s four prestigious full-tuition scholarships. Not only does Jayci come to ACU with strong academics, outside the classroom she has played on Foothill’s varsity tennis team for three years, has been an active member of the math and science clubs, and participates in her school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Jayci is also involved in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and going on several overseas and domestic missions trips. The President’s Scholarship is Arizona Christian University’s top scholarship, and eligible freshmen must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.85, and an ACT composite score of 30 or an SAT combined math and verbal score of 1340. Students must have a history of service, leadership, and character development, and be individuals who demonstrate alignment with ACU’s vision to transform culture with truth. A formal interview with ACU President Len Munsil is required. Jayci will be studying Elementary Education while at ACU, and she eventually hopes to be either a teacher or serve overseas in missions. Jayci explained why she chose Arizona Christian University stating,  “I wanted a school that had a focus on God and was a place where I could continue to grow in my faith.” Jayci looks forward to making new friends at ACU and playing on the tennis team while pursuing her education. Pete Hamstra, ACU’s Vice President of Enrollment shared, “Jayci is exactly the kind of student we want to see...
Morality Essential to Education

Morality Essential to Education

C. S. Lewis saw it coming. The brilliant writer, author of Mere Christianity and The Chronicles of Narnia, delivered a series of lectures 70 years ago that were later compiled in a short book called The Abolition of Man: How Education Develops Man’s Sense of Morality. In it he predicted the disastrous consequences of entering into a world where children are educated without reference to any transcendent, objective code of morality and ethics. We see some of those consequences in today’s headlines — rampant cheating among the best and brightest at an Ivy League college; horrific bullying by mere children; political leaders seeking to re-gain public trust while repeatedly violating what would once have been considered basic standards of decency. For the full article, read it on the Huffington Post:...
