B.S., Behavioral Health

Students learn to understand what constitutes psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being for both individuals and families. Coursework will develop skills to intervene and facilitate behavioral health in a variety of ways through coursework such as Abnormal Psychology, Cross Cultural Counseling, and Addictions. Because of the importance of applying knowledge in an experiential setting, the program includes a credit-earning internship that reflects a minimum of 135 hours at an off-campus site.

Courses will enable behavioral health graduates to:

  • Knowledge Base in Psychology: Students will describe key concepts, principles, and overarching themes in psychology, develop knowledge of content domains, and describe applications of psychology.
  • Scientific Inquiry and Critical Thinking: Students will use scientific reasoning to interpret psychological phenomena, demonstrate psychology information literacy, interpret design, and conduct basic psychological research.
  • Ethical and Social Responsibility in a Diverse World: Students will apply ethical standards to evaluate psychological science and practice; apply psychology-based principles to ethical living, and community welfare, privileging scientific inquiry over popular and political agendas.
  • Communication: Students will demonstrate effective writing and presentation skills for different purposes and demonstrate an understanding of influences of cultural differences on communication.
  • Professional Development: Students will apply psychological content and skills to career goals, exhibit self-efficacy and self-regulation, and refine project-management skills.
  • Biblical Integration: Students will evaluate psychological theories and processes in light of a biblical worldview.

B.S., Business Administration

A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration equips you for an endless list of careers, in which you can impact the world with biblical ethics and a missional attitude of transforming culture with truth. Coursework in the program is designed to develop business skills such as planning, leadership, marketing, management, and interpreting financial results. The program is taught through the framework of a Christian worldview, designed to help students integrate their faith with their personal and professional lives. A degree in Business Administration can be structured to emphasize entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, management, and sports management.

Courses will enable business graduates to:

  • Utilize knowledge and skills associated with accounting, economics, marketing, management, and finance to make effective business decisions.
  • Integrate the above fields in problem analysis and the development of organizational strategy.
  • Demonstrate, through personal conduct and behavior, an appreciation for meeting deadlines, following directions, dependability, responsibility, and punctuality.

B.S., Elementary Education

Education is the only profession that seeks to train people to go on to serve in all other professions. Arizona Christian University’s Bachelor of Science degrees in Elementary Education is designed with this idea in mind. God’s Word and His Truths are foundational in all course work, and the InTASC (Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium) Model Core Teaching Standards are addressed throughout the program of study. Elementary Education graduates leave ACU ready to teach in their area of specialty and are in great demand locally and abroad.

In addition to a diploma at graduation, Arizona Christian University Elementary Education students who are in the certificate program receive:

  • Arizona State Certification – Arizona residents only.
  • ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) Certification.

Courses will enable elementary education graduates to:

  • Recognize how history, trends, diversity, and philosophies of education have evolved and formulate a personal, Christian philosophy of education.
  • Create developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons to teach content area to diverse students based on the Arizona State Standards and InTASC standards.
  • Assess learning resulting from instruction and develop a plan for ongoing monitoring and growth.
  • Based on learned essential elements of instruction, the students will evaluate an outside classroom to determine overall instructional effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate professional development including self-assessment and the ability to collaborate effectively with professional colleagues, parents, and community leaders.
