Arizona Christian University is delighted to announce the addition of Dr. Barry Asmus to the ACU faculty. Dr. Asmus will be teaching a course based on his recent book, coauthored with Dr. Wayne Grudem: Poverty of Nations: A Sustainable Solution.Senior Economist with the National Center for Policy Analysis, Dr. Asmus is an advocate of free market economics. He was named by USA Today as one of the five most requested speakers in the United States. He has been twice voted the Outstanding Professor of the Year and was also awarded the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge Award for Private Enterprise Education.Dr. Asmus has recently traveled to various countries to speak with government leaders about free-market, low tax, protected property rights and free trade policies. Among the nine books he has published, his book Crossroads: The Great American Experiment was nominated for an H.L. DCP New Christian Ministries Degree

The Degree Completion Program at Arizona Christian University has recently added a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministries to the cohort program for working adults. This Christian Ministry program will begin alongside a Behavioral Health cohort on May 22, 2014. The Christian Ministries degree is an excellent opportunity for anyone who would like to work in a church setting or for a non-profit organization. The mix of Bible classes and practical ministry skill training is ideal for those who feel God’s call on their life toward ministry work or leadership. All of the cohort members begin with courses that focus on worldview, writing, servant leadership and conflict resolution. These first three courses enable students to look at these subjects and issues through a biblical lens and learn the written communication, collaboration and teamwork skills that employers are seeking in today’s job market. The Christian Ministries students will then be immersed in biblical training with courses such as Old Testament and Literature; Life and Teachings of Jesus; Pastoral Epistles; and Current Issues in Theology. On the practical application side, they will learn from courses such as Principles of Counseling; Foundations of Christian Education; and Management of Not-for-Profit Organizations. All of the courses in the Christian Ministries cohort will build on the student’s skills and abilities to work in any youth, pastoral or missional ministry as well as train them to serve in a variety of ways in the workplace or to lead in any organizational setting. 2014 ACU Commencement Speaker: Congressman Trent Franks

Arizona Christian University is excited to announce that Congressman Trent Franks will speak at ACU’s 2014 Commencement Ceremony May 24 to the largest graduating class in ACU history. ACU’s 52nd Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 at Bethany Bible Church in Phoenix, 6060 N. 7th Avenue in Phoenix. The class of 116 graduates is substantially larger than the previous high of 100 graduates from the Class of 2012. Congressman Franks is in his 7th term in Washington DC, having represented the West Valley since 2000, and is a member of the Armed Services and Judiciary committees. He is a former member of the Arizona Legislature, Director of the Governor’s Office for Children, and President of Arizona Family Research Institute, predecessor to The Center for Arizona Policy. Congressman Franks has received numerous awards from taxpayers’ organizations, educational organizations, and pro-life organizations including receiving the 2012 William Wilberforce Leadership Award from Students for Life of America. ACU Welcomes Author and Bible Scholar N.T. Wright

Arizona Christian University is excited and honored to welcome author and New Testament scholar N.T. Wright to campus. Wright will speak in ACU’s chapel service on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Wright is currently the Research Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. He holds a Doctor of Divinity from Oxford University and formerly served as the Anglican bishop of Durham in the Church of England. Among various awards and honorary doctorates, Wright was awarded the Mark O. Hatfield Leadership Award in 2012. He has written over 50 books, including Simply Jesus and How God Became King, as well as the five-volume Christian Origins and the Question of God series.
